About Edendale School
YEARS IN THE MAKING
- Started as a missionary school in the late 1800’s.
- Promat (an NGO) took over in the late 1980’s to offer matric to previously disadvantaged youth.
- In 1999, the need for a Primary School was met with new Primary School facilities. They enrolled just under 400 learners that year.
- Parents started requesting a High School building because they didn’t want their children to leave the beautiful environment of the Primary School to go to High Schools in town. The High School building was completed in 2002.
- Promat was dissolved and the school, as well as the land, was donated to Edendale Independent School in the hopes of one day having a church on site and having space to build homes for the homeless.
- The school is now functioning under the Doxa Deo Group and plans for homes for the homeless are underway.
